Wow! What a lot of kelp. Our kelp record holder, Kim Mace, has his magnificent capture weighed by the skipper, Richard English. This is a rare photograph of Richard actually doing something, rather than just texting his teenage friends. It's one of the best specimens of any species taken by a club member.

How to use this site

Here are the basics on getting stuff done and getting the most out of your club web site. The more you put in, the better the site will be.

Unlike most normal web sites, this one is begging you to add stuff to it. There's a noticeboard for announcements, a gallery where you can add your pictures, and forums eagerly awaiting your contributions. Once you get the hang on that, you'll even be able to start adding web pages, your own galleries, news stories etc to your own part of the site, but let's start with the basics...

To be able to contributes to the site, you've got to log in. To do this, just click on the small "login" link in the footer. If you don't have an account, mail me to ask for one.

Now you're logged in, there are several things you can do.

Your profile

  • You can change your personal details at any time.
  • Click on your name in the footer.
  • On the next page, click on the profile link at the top of the page. There's also a "reset your password" link here too.
  • On your profile page, click on the "Edit" tab in the gray bar above your name.
  • The profile form lets you change your registration details, add a location and a profile and upload a profile picture.
  • When you're done, click the "save" button at the foot of the page to save your changes.

The forums

You know how to use forums don't you? Well, there are one or two things that are worth highlighting.

  • You need to be logged in to contribute to the forums.
  • There are two forums currently, one for fishy chat and one for questions about the web site. It's fairly obvious, even to you, which is which.
  • When you enter a forum, you can either start a new conversation (thread) or read and reply to comments within existing conversations (threads).
