Adding pictures to the gallery

There are several galleries. You can add pictures to the gallery called "Members pictures". Here's how...

In the main navigation, there's a heading "Pictures of fish". In the drop down menu below this there's an gallery called "Member's pictures", click on this.

If you aren't logged in , you'll get the standard "punter's eye view" of this, and won't be able to add anything, so log in.

  1. You'll now notice a gray box around the gallery area, with tabs on the left side and drop down menus on the right. This is the edit bar.
  2. Click on the "add new" drop down menu on the right hand side of the edit bar and select "gallery image".
  3. Give the image a title and description (the description shows up as the caption) and the click on the browse field to locate the image you want to upload on your hard drive. Leave all the other fields as they are and click the "save" button at the bottom of the page.
  4. While you can upload images of any size and the software of the site will resize them for the gallery, please don't upload massive files. If you've got an image of more than 1MB, please resize it to make it smaller. Even if you reduce the file size to 200KB you won't notice any reduction in quality on the site.
  5. Your image is now uploaded, but you'll need to "publish" it to make it visible to the general public. To do this, click on the "state: internal draft" drop down menu on the right hand side of the menu bar.
  6. Select "publish". The image page will reload, showing the state as "published".
  7. Click on the Member's pictures gallery in the navigation to see your image in place.

Please note item 6 about publishing your pictures. If you don't publish, your pictures will only be visible to you when you're logged in and to no-one else.
