If the water is clear and the fish are about, we'll be drifting for bass, trying to catch a leviathan. If the water is murky, we'll be on the rough ground catching hard-fighting spurdog, huss and rays.

Having broken Lyle, causing him to abandon us, we have an early chance to test Ryan's mettle, as we look forward to another hectic day catching dozens and dozens of big ballans on hardback crab, with a chance of a real brute. Can we break the eight-pound mark this year?

An offshore trip to fish for conger on far-flung wrecks with Terry Lee, legendary eel skipper of yore. We'll also spend some time on the drift for pollack and possibly even cod, with massive bream also on the cards at anchor.

This will be our first proper tope trip away from Weymouth. Martin has had them to a really good size, so we'll be hunting them on this trip.

The spring bream run will be in full flow off Littlehampton, and we'll be there. On the other hand, if the bass are playing ball, we might be fishing for them. Or perhaps we'll go all in and do both!

This trip will either be drifting for bass with lures or fishing the Kingmere reef for bream. Or possibly a bit of both, depending on what is fishing well at the time.
