We'll probably be targeting big fat bream on inshore reefs, but if there are still pollack around and the sea is flat, we may head out after pollack and/or bass.

All the later spring delights are available to us on this trip, with bass if they're there and feeding, smoothies if we can find them, or bream on shallow reefs. Truly these are the best of times.

The staple trip from Littlehampton, with big bass on lures the main target, but we'll cast lures for (usually) smaller shoaling bass if we see birds working baitfish, and anchor up for rays and bream, if the bass aren't talking to us.

This trip out of Eastbourne will feature all the usual rough ground suspects, with perhaps the tope making and appearance too.

How can a trip of a lifetime come along every year? I don't know, but somehow we manage it. We'll be targeting bass, bream, rays, flatfish and tope, among others this time, with Richard English. Who knows, he may even have his boat back from the menders this time.

One of the best trips of the year, featuring flatfish, bream, bass, rays and the possibility of a porbeagle, which are always around at this time of year. We may also end the day drifting with lures for squid, as the light fades.

The autumn specimen bass are shoaled up over wrecks, reefs and banks, and we'll be taking them on with leadheads and other lures. If we get out, it could be a special trip.

Now is the time for all good men to rip the legs of hardback crabs and catch enormous number of hard fighting ballan wrasse, weighing anything from a couple of pounds up to a potential British record double-figure fish. It's always one of the most popular trips of the year. You'll catch dozens and dozens of fish.

If the seas are flat and the water clear, we'll chase big bass across all kinds of ground, if it's a bit more stirred up and murky, the spurdog will have moved inshore for some small shark mayhem. It's your last chance of some brilliant fishing before Christmas.
