Everyone who has been on this trips loves it. Wrasse galore, with lots of big brutes that pull back hard, and always the chance of a truly spectacular monster. It's an early start because of the tide, so we'll catch the wrasse napping.

At this time of year, everything is in flux, but with any luck, we'll be able to go and try and hit the packs of large, marauding spurdogs which invade the waters around Weymouth in late April and early May.

Last year we beat our smoothie record several times before settling on our current best of 9lb 5oz. But they grow much bigger than that, so come and catch a monster double. They don't half whizz about in the shallow water.

Our first trip out with new Weymouth skipper, the excellent Lyle Stantiforth. This time we'll be after the early run of pollack over offshore wrecks. Last year this trip produced several good doubles to over 16lb. Will there be more of the same.
